In celebration of the 60th Annual Local Author Showcase, Library Shop and the San Diego Public Library are excited to announce the return of Michael Klam as host of the celebration’s Open Mic event.
Our esteemed local authors of 2026 are highly encouraged to participate by presenting a portion of their published work at the open mic, and we hope that the general public will enjoy this rich overview of the talented writers working in San Diego today.

About the Host:
MICHAEL KLAM is associate publisher of the San Diego Poetry Annual. He co-edits the bilingual edition of the SDPA with partner Olga Garcia. Klam hosts Central Library’s Conversations with Poets, a series of video and audio interviews, featuring San Diego’s finest poets. Klam is co-editor of the San Diego Writers, Ink anthology, A Year in Ink, Volume 6. His book, Emma and the Buddha Frog (Puna Press), was a San Diego Book Awards finalist. His most recent collections of poetry and visual art collaborations are The Cheapest Flight to Paradise (Puna Press, 2018) and Anything for a Dull Moment, (Garden Oak Press, 2020).
