Everyone should have the power to dream. All those who dream of a better life also deserve the means to make those dreams real.
Jamar Williams dreamt of launching a business to meet an unmet market need – using drone technology for display advertising and to capture aerial video and photography. He had a great idea but was challenged on how to move forward until he discovered the San Diego Public Library’s Innovation Lab and the free maker services and qualified staff who could help.
Jamar spent several months in the Lab printing parts for his design. Jamar said Library staff was supportive. They helped troubleshoot printing problems and perfect the current design. With this assistance, PromoDrone was launched. Jamar said that the company is currently patent-pending on its applications and processes and has been busy with new clients and expanding into global licensing. The future is bright and “it all started here,” Jamar said of the Library’s Innovation Lab. Read more of Jamar’s story.
Quality, free resources Jamar found at the San Diego Public Library helped make his dreams a reality.
At the San Diego Public Library Foundation, we work to ensure our local Libraries have the support needed so they can be a conduit to opportunity for all San Diegans.
We work with individuals, corporations, and foundations who believe in the Library’s mission and want to invest in that work.
Above and beyond raising funds, we grow the base of Library supporters through outreach, advocacy, and increasing awareness for the Library’s impact.
We hope you will be part of this advocacy team. LibrariesTransformSD is a partnership among the Library Foundation, the Friends of the San Diego Public Library, and the Library Commission. Together, and with our cadre of advocates, we tell elected leaders how important an adequately funded Library is to each community.
Please visit LibrariesTransformSD.org to sign up. Your help will be especially important in the coming months as we call for additional city investments in materials and programs. Use of Library online resources and programs has soared during the pandemic and additional funding is needed as the Library provides resources in every community during San Diego’s recovery.
