Mission Hills welcomed its newest independent bookstore on Monday, featuring an array of fiction and non-fiction stories perfect for every reader.

Located at the corner of West Washington and Hawk Street, Library Shop Mission Hills brings books and community back to the former Mission Hills Library. Operated by the Library Foundation SD, the location also offers crafts made by local artists and other curated items.

The Library Shop is excited to join the Mission Hills business community. We are proud to be part of the resurgence of independent bookstores in San Diego and around the U.S.,” Library Foundation SD Chief Executive Officer Patrick Stewart said.

The bookstore features new arrivals, staff recommendations, books by local authors, banned books and more. Additionally, the store will feature stories about LGBTQ+ characters and experiences to honor Hillcrest’s legacy, as it is a nearby neighborhood, according to ownership.
