Hundreds of community members attended the “We Bought the Lot” event for the new San Carlos Library, including Rep. Sarah Jacobs, Mayor Todd Gloria, Library Director Misty Jones, Councilmember Raul Campillo, and Odi the Coyote.
A long overdue larger, more modern library for San Carlos is one step closer to reality with the city’s purchase of the parking lot at Golfcrest and Jackson Drives. The project to replace the San Carlos Library, on the adjacent lot, has been in the works for more than 30 years. The city was able to purchase the lot, the site of a former gas station, after a prolonged environmental approval process.
Library Foundation CEO Patrick Stewart spoke of the impact the new library would have on the community. Representative Sarah Jacobs, Mayor Todd Gloria, Library Director Misty Jones, and Councilmember Raul Campillo also spoke at the event..
Library Foundation SD is committed to working with public and private partners to identify the funding needed to move the project to the construction phase.
