4 essentials of estate planning: how you can gain peace of mind

Kymbery Mueller, Director of Major & Planned Gifts

Everyone wants to ensure loved ones are not burdened with questions about how their estate should be handled after they are gone. They also want their estate plans to reflect their values and their intent.

What’s the key? Planning ahead!

That was the theme of a Library Foundation planned giving webinar with Nancy Spector. The webinar was the second in a series from the Library Foundation intended to provide trusted estate planning information, including the most effective way to give to charities, from professionals in the field. The webinar is for informational purposes. Be sure to consult your qualified professional advisors regarding your individual circumstances.

Nancy is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law and former Library Foundation Trustee. In the webinar, she covered the essential estate planning documents everyone should have. She also explained how having current documents addressing issues including incapacity, avoiding probate, the distribution of your estate, and potential tax liability can avoid unnecessary problems, make it easier for your loved ones, give you peace of mind, and can also have a significant impact in the community. Read more about Nancy Spector here and watch a replay of this webinar below.

We also paid tribute to Gracia Molina de Pick during the webinar. Gracia was an educator, feminist, social activist, mentor and philanthropist. She had the drive and the opportunity to advance women – particularly poor, migrant, and indigenous women. She saw the Library as a place where people could go to empower themselves and improve their lives. And, she recognized the importance of the Library’s work in her own estate plans.
