Library staff is preparing San Diego’s newest library for its upcoming premiere. The Pacific Highlands Ranch Library will be the San Diego Public Library’s 37th location.
The 18,000-square-foot Pacific Highlands Ranch Library is on Village Center Loop Road, across from Canyon Crest Academy. The branch will serve the rapidly growing North County coastal area, and relieve some pressure from the Carmel Valley Library, the busiest branch location.
The open-concept library features:
- A large, adaptable community rooms,
- Six meeting rooms,
- Separate adult, children, and teen reading areas,
- A fully-equipped maker space, and
- Three outdoor reading patios.
The terracotta-tiled entry courtyard features an immersive art piece by Janelle Iglesias that conceptually ties to the earliest libraries that were comprised of clay tablets inscribed with cuneiform script. The library’s courtyard includes English, Spanish, and Kumeyaay inscribed tiles.
Stay tuned for more information on the library’s grand opening.
